Introducing 2-Step Email Unsubscribe 

We are excited to announce a significant improvement to your email marketing capabilities: the two-step email unsubscribe process. This new functionality allows your customers to manage their email preferences effectively, helping you maintain better engagement with your clients while staying compliant with email regulations.

What Is the 2-Step Email Unsubscribe Feature? 

A 2-step unsubscribe process adds an extra layer of confirmation. When a recipient clicks the unsubscribe link, they are first directed to a confirmation page where they must explicitly choose to unsubscribe. This helps to: 

  • Reduce Accidental Unsubscriptions: A second step ensures that your customers do not unintentionally unsubscribe. 
  • Prevent fraudulent unsubscribes: It makes it more difficult for bots or malicious actors to remove large numbers of legitimate subscribers. 
  • Enhanced sender reputation: Lower unsubscribe rates can positively impact your sender reputation, which can improve email deliverability.

How does it work? 

  • Enabling Arborgold’s 2 Step Unsubscribe feature

    • To ensure that your marketing emails include Arborgold's 2-Step Unsubscribe link, please make sure that Subscription Tracking is disabled in your SendGrid account. If this feature is enabled, your emails will display SendGrid's default unsubscribe link instead.

  • Customer Receives Unsubscribe Link: 
    • Whenever you utilize Arborgold’s marketing features like Generate Customer List, Renewals, or Cross Marketing Services to send marketing emails to your customers, the system automatically includes Arborgold’s 2-Step Unsubscribe link in the email footer.

    • When a customer clicks the "Unsubscribe" link in your email, they'll be redirected to a confirmation page. 

  • Confirmation Page: 
    • This page is a verification step in the unsubscription process. It confirms whether your email recipients truly want to unsubscribe or if it was an accidental click. They can choose to either "Keep Receiving Email" or close the tab to remain on your mailing list.

  • Final Confirmation:  

    • After making their selections, customers will need to confirm their choice to complete the unsubscribe process.

    • Clicking "Unsubscribe" on the confirmation window will put the associated email address under your Global Unsubscribes list in Arborgold.

Introducing Global Unsubscribes Management 

The Global Unsubscribes List displays all email addresses that have opted out of your email communications. This includes users who unsubscribed through Arborgold's 2-Step Unsubscribe process and those from your SendGrid Global Unsubscribes list.

This helps companies to manage their email recipient lists effectively. Here's how they help: 

  • Preventing unwanted emails: This ensures that these individuals don't receive any further emails from your company.   

  • Improving deliverability: This helps maintain a clean and active email list, which can improve email deliverability rates and reduce the chances of emails landing in spam folders or getting dropped altogether. 

  • Enabling Resubscription: Allows customers who may have accidentally unsubscribed via SendGrid to easily rejoin your mailing list, whether due to accidental clicks or temporary reasons like inbox clutter or irrelevant content.

How does it work? 

You can instantly view all those customers and take following actions: 

  • Refresh: The "Refresh" button imports any new unsubscribed emails or customers from both SendGrid's Global Unsubscribes list and those captured through Arborgold's native unsubscribe system.

  • Resubscribe: The "Resubscribe" button enables you to select specific email addresses or customers from the list and quickly re-add them to your active mailing list, ensuring that your future emails reach them without being dropped.

Resubscribe from Batch Email Communication 

The batch email communication screen now includes an "Unsubscribe" tab that lists customers who have opted out of your email communications. This convenient feature allows you to:

  • Quickly Resubscribe: Select customers directly from the list and move them back to the "Emails" tab, enabling you to send them emails again.
  • Efficient Management: Manage unsubscribed emails within the batch communication screen, eliminating the need to navigate to the Global Unsubscribe List.

Automatic Resubscribe via Individual Email Communication 

Sending individual emails such as proposals, invoices, or statements to email addresses that have previously unsubscribed will automatically re-subscribe those customers. This ensures that crucial communications can still be delivered to your customers, even if they have opted out of general marketing emails.

Does this feature apply to all emails? 

The 2-Step Unsubscribe feature is specifically designed for batch marketing emails, such as those generated through the Generate Customer List function. It is not applied to single communication emails like proposals, invoices, or statements, nor is it included in batch invoice or batch communications emails.

Can your customer unsubscribe without confirming the second step? 

Yes, if Arborgold's 2-Step Unsubscribe feature is not implemented and SendGrid's Subscription Tracking is enabled in your SendGrid account, your marketing emails will include SendGrid's default unsubscribe link. In this case, customers can unsubscribe without confirming the second step.


What if a customer changes his/her mind after unsubscribing? 

If a customer changes their mind after unsubscribing, they can:

  1. Resubscribe via the Unsubscribe Link: Visit the same 2-step unsubscribe link and choose to "Keep Receiving Emails."
  2. Contact Your Team: Reach out to your team, who can manually re-subscribe the customer from the Global Unsubscribe Management list.
